What is Hydro Excavation?

The process of Hydro Excavation is a non-destructive method using pressurized water (Hydro) and a vacuum system to dig. This enables one to make a visual observation of existing buried underground utilities so that they may be avoided when digging in the ground. This process enhances the operation of directional drilling rigs, etc.

Some typical
applications would include:
  • Underground line exposing
  • Subsurface utility engineering
  • Piling holes
  • Utility poles
  • Traffic signals
  • Light standards
More and more projects are now requiring potholing or daylighting prior to using directional drilling machines, backhoes, and trenchers. The fiber optic cable companies are specifying the use of hydrovac excavation to locate all utilities running parallel with, over, and under the path of the proposed utility installation.
